The term “philanthropy” was added with the restructuring to reflect the generous gifts from members, branches, and other donors to support Fellowships and Grants, the Legal Advocacy Fund, and the Leadership Training Institute. An earlier mission statement included “lifelong learning” and “positive societal change.” These are certainly lofty goals—what do you see as the problem?
