The American Association of University Women
2008 Crystal Award

The Maryville Branch of the American Association of University Women is proud to announce the Third Annual AAUW Crystal Award to be given in March as the culmination to Women's History Month. The award recipient, to be nominated by the citizens of Blount County and selected by an impartial judging committee, will be an individual whose life or work has created opportunities for the women or girls
of Blount County to achieve their greatest potential.

The 2008 winner will receive a beautiful crystal gift and a cash reward. This year's winner will be revealed at an award celebration to be held at the Blount County Public Library in Maryville on Monday, March 31, at 6:30 p.m. This year’s theme will be “Who Inspired You?”

Who may nominate: Community Groups and individuals are being invited to nominate a woman or man who meets the criteria, including being a person who inspires others to strive to meet their potential.

Criteria:
1. Be over age 18
2. Live or work in Blount County
3. Have contributed over time or in a significant way to the education, physical or spiritual well-being of women and girls
4. Or have improved social, economic or political conditions for women & girls
5. Be a person who inspires others

Come and be a part of this terrific evening of inspiration, education and celebration. The Finalists will be featured in The Daily Times and will be invited with family and friends to attend the AAUW Crystal Award Celebration.

Public Sponsorships: Those who have been inspired by men or women no longer living or who do not meet the criteria are being invited to honor that person publicly as Crystal Award sponsors in the Program. For example, “Autumn Hall honors her mother, Geraldine Berger for years of love and support.” The contribution requested is $25 per name.
