Referees are needed for games to take place. All of our referees are volunteers. Almost anyone can be a referee.
REASONS GIVEN FOR NOT VOLUNTEERING TO REFEREE:
I DON'T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT SOCCER.
One of the best ways to learn more about soccer is to become a referee.
The NEXT U-8 Official/Regional Referee Course will be held Saturday, Aug.28th at
the office of the Prudential Insurance Company, The Landmark Center, 1111 Northshore
Drive, Suite P-190. The Landmark Center is located in the Bearden area on Northshore
Drive between Kingston Pike and I-40. It is on the opposite side of the street
from the Pilot station. Two pillars mark the entrance. Landmark is on one of the
pillars. Plenty of parking. You will be entering the South Tower. Prudential is on the ground floor.
The class will start at 8:15am for both of the courses. The U-8 Official Course
should finish around 2:30pm. The Regional Referee Course should finish around 4:30pm.
Materials will be furnished, but candidates should bring a notepad and pencil.
Lunch will be served. It will help immensely if you will have completed your
volunteer form at home. Please bring two copies and your driver's license.

After your training you will not only know more about soccer but will be certified to referee!
I WON'T BE ABLE TO WATCH MY CHILD PLAY.
Our superduper referee scheduler extrodinaire will schedule your time to officiate
around your child's schedule. Depending on the age, you may even be able to officiate
your child's game.
I DON'T HAVE THE TIME.
Other than the one day training most officials call only one game....an hour long,
on a Saturday. If it is your child's game, you will have gotten to see your child play from a special perspective.
NO ONE HAS ASKED ME.
We're asking you now. AYSO depends on volunteers. We need your help! Contact Led Gardner at 584-1940

You will be surprised how much it will mean to your child when they know you are a referee. |
