Area 5G has created it's own newsgroup at Google Groups. Since it's brand new we know there won't be a lot of activity right away, but we hope that eventually it can become a valuable resource for all our volunteers, players, and parents. For those of you who are unfamiliar with them, a newsgroup is a place where folks can share experiences, ask questions, make comments and post announcements - and others can read the posts and reply to them.

General information and Posting Guidelines:
If you have not already created an account with Google Groups, you will need to go to their Main Page. Next to "New Users", click onto "join", and follow the instructions. Once that's complete you may then request to become a member of our Area 5G group. If you received an invitation to join from an existing member, you should use the same e-mail address that the invitation was sent to. However, if you have other e-mail addresses and would prefer to use a different one in the newsgroup, you may send us a request to become a member using that preferred address.

This group will be moderated. The moderator has the authority to delete inapproprate posts.

Anyone is able to read the messages in the newsgroup but only members of the group are allowed to post. Just click on the "join this group" link at the newsgroup's main page and a request for membership will be sent to us for approval. Current members are also able to invite new folks to join. The more the merrier!

The first few posts by new members are automatically sent to the moderator for approval, so there will be a delay before they appear in the newsgroup - otherwise posts should appear within a few minutes of submittal.

This membership requirement and posting delay are for the protection of the newsgroup. Often "spammers" use automated programs to send commercial or junk messages to newsgroups, and this is an effort to eliminate, or at least reduce, those types of posts.

Please keep the content and language clean. AYSO is a youth-oriented program and kids may be reading the newsgroup.

Please keep posts on-topic. Posts about the AYSO program here in Area 5G, or soccer in general, are welcome (and we hope our "neighbors" in Area 5B will join in, too!), but there are lots of other groups in which to discuss politics, religion, or non-related subjects.

Keep in mind that posting in all capitals is considered shouting in newsgroups.

Flaming (verbal attacks on other posters), spamming (unsolicited junk, commercial, or bulk posts), or flooding (posting multiple, meaningless, irrelevant posts) will not be tolerated. The moderator will delete these types of inapproprate posts, and has the authority to remove people from the members list.
