August 2, 2011 Board Meeting Notes

Attending: Gary Kidd (via teleconference), Bill Thomas, Greg Snodgrass, Ann Martin, Renee Hicks, Mary Beth Snodgrass, Jim Rome

Last meetingŐs minutes are approved and are posted on BCC web site.

July 4th Annual Party: had terrible luck with thunderstorms in afternoon and we were not able to hold our kidsŐ games. Will create new purchase list to add more hamburgers and hot dogs, and one less bag of chicken for next year.

New All-Family Party: Decided to have a family pot luck tailgate party on Saturday, Sept. 17. Event starts at noon with food delivery. Will have field and pool games for kids including the money dive, starting at 1 PM. We will continue to hold the chili cook-off end-of-year party later in October as our last (adults-only) party. Date TBD.

Guard Update: college aged guards will start leaving next week. Younger guards will be working more with older guards in next few weeks to prepare for working alone later in August. Day time hours this year from 11 - 1 and 7 - 9 PM were single-staffed.  Once school begins on August 15, pool hours will be 4 - 8 PM M, T, R, F and Wed from 3 – 8.  Wed will be double staff if guards are available, and other weekdays will be single-staffed.

Closing day scheduled for Sunday, September 18, but may extend if we can provide guard coverage and weather stays warm enough.

Health Department inspects pool monthly. Last score was 97 out of 100. We are doing well with our inspections.

Plumber fixed toilet in bathroom that had leaking tank.

Discussed purchasing an in-pool fountain to help keep water cooler. Jim Rome will investigate purchase options and price.

Financials: Approx $5000 currently in pool resurfacing fund. We are spending less money this year vs. last year - mostly due to guard coverage and less needed for repairs.

Annual Survey: Discussed potential 2011 survey questions regarding allowing extended family members of current shareowners to use their parentsŐ membership. Also discussed guest policy for extended family members. More discussion to follow.

Membership Update: Sold 4 memberships this year—2 were repossessions; 2 were new.

Will send out email re: lake swimmers need to wash out their suits prior to using the pool due to mustard algae from lake water residue.

Pool Rules and Regulations: Board discussed and revised Rules document draft. Bill Thomas will incorporate changes and new draft will be sent to Board for final review.

New Map of Briarcliff Neighborhood: Jim Rome is creating new map showing boundaries defined at May 25th board meeting. This new map will be EXHIBIT "A" in our By-Laws.

Next Board Meeting: Tentatively scheduled for Monday, September 12 at 6:30 in the pavilion.
