Children’s Ministry

Sunday School

We offer classes for children ages three years old through fifth grade. These classes meet in the education wing of the main church building. The curriculum we use, which follows the seasons of the church year, gathers children with classroom rituals, engages them in scripture, and encourages them to respond through creative activities. We also select a scripture passage as our theme for the Christian education year. We emphasize this theme by decorating our hallways and classrooms, and once a month, children’s Sunday school lessons and activities focus on this scripture passage.

Nursery

We provide childcare during both worship services, Sunday school, Wednesday evening activities, and as needed for other church functions. We have an infant nursery for children birth through twenty-four months old and a toddler nursery for children two through five years old. The nurseries are located downstairs in the education wing of the main church building.

Wonderful Wednesdays

(September-May) This program begins at 6:00 p.m. and consists of Christian education activities, choir, and hand bells for children four years old through fifth grade. Three year old children have Christian education activities and hand bells beginning at 6:30 p.m. We also offer a Wednesday evening meal beginning at 5:15 p.m. in the fellowship hall.

Vacation Bible School

Four evenings each summer, we host a community-wide Bible school for preschoolers and elementary students. During this fun and exciting event, children rotate to various activity stations such as music, Bible stories, snacks, crafts, and games.

Church Camp

Each summer, the Presbytery of East Tennessee offers two junior camps--one at Camp Chilhowee (Seymour, Tennessee) and one at Camp John Speer (Greeneville, Tennessee.) All children who have completed third, fourth, or fifth grade are invited to attend.
