April 2004 Newsletter About 15 neighbors attended the March Neighborhood Association meeting. Everyone had a great time getting reacquainted with their neighbors. Also, there were a number of great ideas discussed with many people volunteering to help collect dues April 10, 2004. Thanks again to all that have volunteered their time to help out. Tom Salter presented the new website. In addition to all the work Tom has put into the website he has also donated the registration fees for the domain name. Everyone that has seen our website has been very impressed. If you haven’t had an opportunity to visit it, drop by www.cfhv.org. The Knox County Office of Neighborhoods will provide a link to our site in the near future. Thanks Tom for your generosity and all of your hard work. The Spring garage sale will be held on April 30 and May 1 from 8:00 to 2:00. If you are interested in participating, please contact Stephen Whitson. The Cardwells have generously offered to provide an advertisement in the News Sentinel and the association will provide balloons for each participating household. Also, if you have items of special interest, submit them to webmaster@cfhv.org. Tom will post them on the website. Several committees have started being formed. Among them Patsy Nimri and Margaret San Miguel will co-chair the directory committee. Our neighborhood directory has not been updated since 1995, so this is a huge task. You can help make this project easier by simply visiting the website and submitting your directory information on the online form. This will take you about one minute to complete but will save the directory committee a lot of time in research. Pete Cardwell, Margie Cardwell and Patsy Nimri will all be working on the Welcome Wagon committee. They have several super ideas to welcome our new neighbors to the area. We still need someone to chair the newsletter and beatification committees. If you are interested in serving on a committee please contact one of the officers for more information. There are many opportunities to serve and everyone will benefit from your involvement. Upcoming Meeting Clarence and Mary Smith will host the next meeting on April 24, 2004 at 10:00 AM. Their address is 1008 Sky Blue Road. Please plan to attend. With everyone’s help, this can be the best association in town. Rural Metro will provide the guest speaker. Presidents Corner The turnout was fantastic at the March meeting. I hope that the April meeting will be even better. Rural Metro Fire Department will provide a guest speaker to discuss fire safety and answer questions about the subscription discount program the association hopes to get in place. I would encourage everyone to attend this very important meeting. If there is enough participation, all neighborhood association members could enjoy a 20% reduction in their Rural Metro rates. This savings would more than cover the annual $ 10.00 association dues. We have tentatively scheduled Mr. Grant Rosenberg, with Knox County Office of Neighborhoods, to be the guest speaker at the June meeting. More details will follow. We have had a request to remind pet owners to please be responsible when walking your pets. Pets have damaged several shrubs in the neighborhood. Dues will be collected on April 10 this year. Dues have not been collected in three years and the bank account is getting low. It was voted that dues would remain at $ 10.00 for the year. Expect one of the volunteers to drop by Saturday morning to collect dues. As a reminder, dues are used to maintain the subdivision entrances and pay for two streetlights. They also will be used cover other expenses of the Association. Please remember with favorable weather around the corner, children will be outside playing. Be careful and watch out for the children while you are driving. The next meeting will be held on Saturday, April 24, 2004 at the Smith’s home at 10:00 AM. I hope that we, as a group, can make this the best Association in the area. Again, if you have an idea, please let me know. You can reach me at President@cfhv.org or give me a call at 690-9017. In closing, please plan to attend the next meeting and get involved. If we all work together we can have the best Association in the area. |
