If you have something that you want to contribute to our newsletter, please send it to
our Director of News Operations Scott Carpenter  rsc@w3st.com.
When submitting articles to the newsletter, please make sure they
contain all the information you want relayed to others. Incomplete submissions will not
be put in the newsletter, so make yours is complete and proof-read it!!!
Also, Chota reserves full editorial privilege on submitted materials,
so if it appears differently than how you submitted it please understand!!!

Trip reports, articles of general interest to the paddling community and
anything conservation-oriented is always appreciated. You can send photo's
to the newsletter email too, but you must list both a caption for the photo
and all of those being photographed.

2011 EVENTS SCHEDULED

CHOTA Monthly Meetings
"We encourage and welcome visitors".

Club Meetings - 2nd Thursday of each month
General membership meeting at 6:30

Roll sessions at UT Aquatic Center Friday, (7 to 9pm) during Jan, Feb, and Mar

*Chota Canoe Club Sponsored Winter Roll Sessions*
2012 Sessions will occur on the following additional dates from 7 to 9pm :

- · Jan 13, 20, 27

- · Feb 03, 10, 17, 24

- · Mar 2, 9, 16

Additional sessions are possible after Mar 16 that will be re-negoitated
with UT at that time.

This year Chota will be subsidizing the full cost. All roll sessions
will be limited to 20 people per session. 6 lanes of the pool will be
reserved for Chota. White water kayaks, touring kayaks, and canoes are
all welcome for this winter practice.

Chota Meeting and Chili Cook-off Competition Feb 11 2012, Sat @ 5:30 pm
To be held at Robert and Mary Margaret Eckhardt’s home at 613 East Fox Den Drive, Knoxville, TN, 37934

Bring your favorite chili dish, or an appetizer, side dish or dessert to share.
Our club will provide beverages.

Prizes will be awarded to the winner, 2nd, and 3rd runner up of the competition.

We shall take an opportunity to plan our 2012 white water, touring trips as well as Polar Bear weekend,
canoe/kayak school and other fun events.

Directions: From I-40/I-75, take exit 373 and head south on Campbell Station,
turn right (west) on Grigsby Chapel, go about 0.7 mile, passing 5 traffic islands,
then left onto Woodchase (sign partially hidden by bushes). Proceed 3 blocks,
then turn right on East Fox Den Drive and it’s the 3rd house on the left.
