| Hello Touring Kayakers. | |

Touring and sea kayaking offer such unique opportunities for enjoying the outdoors. Just getting out on the water for an hour or two is great, good exercise; never know what you will see or find, and great scenery. If you like to hike and camp then kayak camping is for you, can't carry what you would in your pickup truck, but a lot more than you can on your back. And easier too! And the opportunities for these activities are close to home. For the more adventurous open ocean kayaking, surfing and extend expeditions offer unlimited challenges. Unfortunately a lot of us forgo these activities because of the difficulty in finding paddling partners and organized trips. Chota is setting up a Touring\Sea Kayaking Network to facilitate the dissemination of information and paddling opportunities. We need to know who you are to get the information to you for this to work. Touring and sea kayaking can be promoted and expanded in Chota only if we have members stepping forward, taking a lead, and helping. We need to have individuals willing to coordinate day trips, overnight trips, classes or any other activity that helps to those interested in this sport to get together. Let us know who you are, what type of activities would you like to participate in. Do you want classes? Lake trips? How about costal trips to South Carolina and Georgia? Do you want to learn how to read tides and land in the surf? Call let us know what you are interested in and how share any ideas on how we can increase opportunities and interest in paddling. There is a small number of us who do some short trips in the mornings and evenings during the week. Anyone interested in joining these trips is welcome, just give Doug Johnstone or I a call or send an e-mail. David Mann 671-7448; or damann-1@msn.com |
