The Bobcat Band Boosters formed in 1999 to support the Central High band program due to a lack of monetary support from the Knox County School system.  During the past few years, this booster organization has raised funds to purchase new band uniforms, six sousaphones, French horns, percussion instruments, a bassoon, and a bass clarinet.  In addition to this, money is raised to cover costs for transportation, entry fees for competitions, instructional personnel, music, instrument repair, and music lessons (just to name a few).  Meeting the ongoing needs of the CHS Band program results in a budget over $110,000.  The reasonable student band fees for fall and spring semesters means that volunteers and fundraising is vital.

Parental involvement in the Booster organization is imperative to the success of the Bobcat Band program.  There are a variety of ways to be involved (naming only a few) - chaperoning, working concessions, managing instruments & band equipment, fitting & hemming uniforms, chair or assist on a committee, and everyone's help (parents and students) is needed in the fundraising events.

Parents, your active participation in this organization is as important to the success of the CHS Band program as is your student's diligent practice and hard work!  Support your child's learning experience by being active in Bobcat Band Boosters.
