Policies and RulesHours of OperationCMY is open from 3:00 P.M. until 5:30 P.M. Monday through Friday on days that Knox County Schools (school calendar) are open for a full day. CMY is closed on Knox County Schools half days and/or in the event of weather related dangerous driving conditions (snow, ice, etc.). Office hours are from 2:00 P. M. - 6:00 P. M. Student AbsenceIf a student will not be coming to CMY at the regular time, it is very helpful for the staff to know in advance. This is especially important for transportation. A parent or guardian should leave a message at CMY so that the driver knows whether or not to wait for a particular student. Electronic Games, Toys, Recording EquipmentStudents should not bring tape players, CD players, electronic games or similar items to the center. If, for some reason, students are required to take these items to school, they must be kept in their book bags or given to a staff member for safe keeping during CMY hours. TransportationTransportation is an essential component of the CMY program. In order to render better service to all program participants, it is necessary that excellent standards of conduct be maintained at all times. The driver should not be distracted or required to handle discipline problems. The van should be kept clean. Please obey the driver's first request and observe the following rules:
General Conduct ExpectationsThe following general rules of good conduct must be observed by all students at all times. Off-site activities and field trips are considered a part of the CMY program and the same rules of conduct apply. CMY does not have the staff or resources to handle serious discipline problems. Students who do not comply with the conduct expectations and transportation rules will be dropped from the program.
Non-Parent ReleaseThe application form requests emergency contact names. These are the only persons to whom a student may be released. If someone else is to pick up your child, please call or send a note to the center. Use of TelephoneStudents are permitted to telephone their parents when necessary. However, we do require that they courteously request permission to use the telephone and that they limit the length of their conversation to three minutes or less. A CMY staff person will telephone in case of emergency or schedule change. Current InformationPlease be certain that all parent/guardian contact information is up-to-date. Advise the CMY staff of any health, medical, dietary or physical student restrictions that are to be observed.
