2011 East Tennessee College Alliance Lifelong Learning Awards
East Tennessee College Alliance (ETCA) hosted the 2011 Lifelong Learning Awards Ceremony and Luncheon on Wednesday, April 13th at the Foundry on the Worlds Fair Site. Mr. John Turvaville, University of Tennessee, received the Educator of the Year award and Mr. Matt Hendershot, Roane State Community College was chosen Adult Learner of the Year.
East Tennessee College Alliance is a consortium of 11 colleges and universities throughout the region dedicated to providing educational opportunities for non-traditional working adults.
Mr. Buzz Thomas, President of the Great Schools Partnership in Knoxville, was the guest speaker at the ceremony.
Corporate Awards were presented to businesses that have provided higher education opportunities for their employees. This year’s recipients include Comcast Communications, CVS Caremark, Green Mountain Coffee Roasters, Radio Systems Corporation, and US Cellular.
Dr. William Lyons, Director of Policy Development, represented Mayor Brown and proclaimed April 13th as Lifelong Learning Day for the City of Knoxville.
East Tennessee College Alliance Member institutions are: Carson Newman College, Cleveland State Community College, Johnson University, King College, Lincoln Memorial University, Pellissippi State Community College, Roane State Community College, Tennessee Wesleyan College, Tusculum College, The University of Tennessee, and Walters State Community College.
