Musical Adventure Through History
Through a grant from the Arts & Culture Alliance of Knoxville, we
are offering six workshops called “Learning about Freedom through
Music”, at three area Knox County Branch Libraries. These workshops
are free and open to the public: families, children, and adults!
Musicians and storytellers Sean McCollouogh and Georgi Schmidt will
join ETTAC staff and others to tell the stories and sing the songs
of freedom that have influenced the rights and freedoms we enjoy
today.
This is a wonderful opportunity to learn about Civil Rights,
Disability Rights, and how these two powerful movements in our
history have shaped things we do on a daily basis: curb cuts,
electric doors, eating in a restaurant, learning and playing in the
same school, classroom, or playground with other children, voting,
riding on a bus, and many, many more activities!
We hope to develop an oral history of people in our community who
have been part of the Civil and Disability Rights movements, and we
also want children to tell their own stories of freedom!

ETTAC's KidsFest Celebration of Children's Art and Music
ETTAC is proud to announce that its 2008 annual fundraiser, KidsFest, was a smashing success! Amid the backdrop of a warm, sunny day, this one-day event was buzzing with activity, fun and enjoyment for many of the area children and their families. Included in the festivities were accessible and inclusive music, dance, art, storytelling, crafts activities, and performances and exhibits by area artists, dancers, and musicians. We could say more, but "a picture is worth a thousand words." See for yourself... A hearty thanks to all who made this event possible!
