Value Statement
The East Tennessee Technology Access Center is an organization that seeks to redefine human potential by making technology a regular part of the lives of people with disabilities. We strive to do this by providing easy access to conventional and assistive technologies, related services, and information resources which enable people with disabilities to achieve success, independence, and productivity according to their individual needs, goals, and interests. Assistive technology services are provided by a qualified team of people committed to excellence, supportive of each other's personal and professional growth, and united in our commitment to support the needs and goals of people with disabilities, their families, and service providers in East Tennessee. We continuously strive to improve the quality of our services and exemplify the following values in the provision of our services:
- People
with disabilities have the right to participate in all
environments without barriers;
- Technology can be used to reduce or
eliminate environmental and attitudinal barriers facing people
with disabilities;
- People with disabilities have
the right to control and direct their own choices, and the right
to access the information they need in order to make informed
decisions according to their goals and interests; and,
- People with disabilities have the right to employ assistive technology devices, strategies, and training necessary to maximize their independence and productivity.
