Congratulations Fusion 95 Boys Premier Team

STATE CHAMPIONS!!! The Fusion U14 Premier Boys Team won the D2 Tennessee State Championship on November 15 & 16, 2008.

The state tournament was held in Hendersonville, Tennessee. The Premier Boys entered the tournament as the #1 team from the East Division after having gone undefeated in league play. On the way to the championship, they defeated the Murfressboro Strikers 2-1, Stones River (Smyrna) Rapids 3-0, and East Ridge (Chattanooga) Express Red 2-1. In the eight league and tournament games that led to the state championship the Fusion U14 Boys scored 23 goals and yielded only six. In the tournament, the team played well to overcome strong competition and adverse weather (cold and wet) conditions. The Fusion Premier Boys are ranked among the top three U14 teams from all divisions in the state of Tennessee, and they are ranked among the top 15 teams in Region 3. Congratulations to the boys and Coach Louis Thorpe!!!

1st Place Gold Division

2008 TNFC Fall Classic

The U14 Fusion Premier Team won the championship of the Gold Division of the TNFC Fall Classic held in Nashville, Tennessee on September 20 & 21. On the way to the championship, they defeated two teams ranked #1 in the state of Tennessee. First, they overcame the Nashville Metros, who were the top-ranked U14 Boys team in the state. Later, they defeated the state’s top ranked (and nationally ranked) Brentwood Premier Girls, who were playing in the top U14 Boys division. The Fusion team scored 16 goals while giving up only four during the tournament. Congratulations!!!

2008 Smokey Mountain Fall Tournament

From Coach Watkins: The weekend of September 13 and 14, 2008 was a strong one for the 95 G Fusion team. The 95 G played great futbol and represented the Fusion Futbol Club well in Knoxville. On the field of play Fusion defeated a strong Oak Ridge Club team 2-1. Goalkeeper Riley Sullivan saved a PK with 5 minutes left to play with her team clinging to a 2-1 lead. We then beat FC Alliance 95 White 4-2 in a brilliant match in which the girls scored some world class quality goals. On Sunday the Fusion beat the FC Alliance 96 Gold team 1-0 in a fantastic effort by all 16 girls. In the last match a treacherous wind contributed to the Fusion falling short against a very good FC Alliance 95 Gold team. This weekend had some amazing individual performances by many players and the team put together a very inspiring group effort to take 2^nd place in a very competitive tournament. All in all this was a great weekend for this newly formed team and the future looks bright.
