Greenback Presbyterian Women's
Circle
Any women in the church are invited to become part of our
Women's Circle, part of the church's Presbyterian Women program. The
Women's Circle is a very active group focused on nurturing our faith
through prayer, Bible study, supporting Churchwide missions, and
fellowship. |
Our Purpose:
Forgiven and freed by God in Jesus Christ, and empowered by the Holy
Spirit, we commit ourselves:
to nurture our faith through prayer and
Bible study; |
to support the mission of the church
worldwide; |
to work for justice and peace; and |
to build an inclusive, caring community
of women that strengthens the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) and
witnesses to the promise of God’s kingdom. |
Our Meetings:
Our Women's Circle meets monthly at a member's home. We meet the
third Thursday of every month at 7:00 p.m. from September through
May. Our meetings include a
brief business meeting to make plans for service projects or coordinate
activities, a time of prayer and member concerns, a Bible study lesson led
by a Circle member, a time for mission updates and reflection, and
(always!) delicious refreshments.
You can find out where the monthly meetings
will be held by checking our calendar page. If you need directions,
please call the church or any Circle member.
Our Activities:
We're a fairly small group (about 20 members), but very active!
Following is a list of several of our projects and activities for this year. If you
have suggestions or ideas you'd like for us to consider, please let any
Circle member know, or (better yet) join us!
We made a set of banners to hang in
the church sanctuary. We have previously made holiday
decorations, wreaths, and other things for the sanctuary, and now
have a set of banners to display between special occasions. |
 | Many years ago, we made a large set of
Chrismons to decorate our Chrismon tree at Christmas. Several of
the ornaments are in disrepair, so we're planning to hold several
workshops to make new Chrismons. We like to think of
it as "Christmas Year Round". |
 | Our group often takes on the role of "church
decorator". This year, we'll be replacing the carpet in the
nursery and making new curtains for the church fellowship hall. |
We'll be holding rummage sales at the
church pavilion in the fall and spring. The fall sale is in conjunction with the community's Fall
Festival. We'll also have a booth at the Festival with homemade
goodies. |
We've started a monthly outing for Circle
members (and any other interested people in the community).
We'll meet the first Saturday of each month for a different activity,
always sure to be fun! See the church calendar page for more
information about these outings and to check the dates. |
We actively participate in the workshops,
gatherings, and missions of our regional cluster of Presbyterian Women
groups. Dates for these will be added to the church calendar
page. We'll also be making spice bags for use in the Annual
Gathering of Presbyterian Women. |
A church website is also on our list of
things to accomplish for the year, so if you're reading this, we can
check that one off! |
