at Lanier Grade School and Greenback kindergarten. |
| Summer Reading Program |
Each summer the Greenback Public Library participates in a State sponsored
summer reading program. Children compete within their age groups to see
who can read the most books during June and July. Beginning and ending dates
are posted in schools, libraries and local newspapers as well as on this
Internet web page. The program is intended for children 3-12 years of age
and meets at the library on Wednesdays from 3:00-4:00 to turn in their completed
books and to check out new books. At these sessions, there are special guests,
prizes and treats. The program ends with an "Awards Day" and a
hot dog party. Library volunteers provide the staff for supervision and
the program is funded by donations from the community and the surrounding
area. |
