GENERAL

Troop 17 is sponsored out of First Farragut United Methodist Church.  We meet on Mondays from 7:30 - 9:00 PM.  Meetings are centered around advancement and preparation for upcoming events.  The Troop Camps on a monthly basis.   Troop members have participated in the National Jamboree, Philmont, Sea Base, Canoe Base, and Summer camp each year both in and out of Council.  Our campouts are challenging yet tailored toward all levels of Scouts.
The Troop has earned many Blue Ribbons and Camping Awards.  Scouts have Advanced, and we have earned National Advancement Recognition.  Our Troop has equipment for patrol method campouts, and we place emphasis on back packing.
The Troop dues is $40.00 for the entire year, which covers Troop gear, advancement, insurance, and BSA dues.

SPECIAL EVENTS
Our Troop has many High Adventure Camp Outs.  What makes us unique and different from other Troops is that we all those in the Troop to participate.  The only exception to this would be where National BSA requirements would prevent us form including a certain age bracket.  In that case as with any other rules we always follow the BSA requirements.

Troop 17 has an aggressive quality program which supports all the Scouting Skills, Advancement and Outdoor activities.  The Troop has  regularly done the following:  Canoeing, Bike Hiking, Rappelling, Ice Skating, Attended BSA Jamborees, BSA Seabase, BSA Philmont,  BSA Canoe Base, Summer Camp both in and out of Council, Shooting Sports, Caving, Snow Camping, Back Packing, Day Hiking, Rock Climbing, Sailing, Fishing, Swimming, Archery, Swim Parties, Visits to federal facilities, and Scout Shows.  Our meetings center on Merit Badges, Scout Skills and hands on experience with building model airplanes/rockets, art, sculpture, and personal development skills leading toward fast advancement.  The Troop has basic equipment and only personnel gear needs to supplied by the scout.  Visit us soon.
