Hickory Woods Annual Easter Egg Hunt, 2002

Easter Egg Hunt

The Easter egg hunt was held on time at the home of Ann and Jim Durall. Lots of kids and parents showed up to have a lot of fun on a almost rainy day. The hunt started at 10 AM - ON TIME. Ann is strict and latecomers are left behind. It was amazing to this neighbor to see all the participants arrive between 9:50 and 9:59.

This was the most unusual egg hunt we've ever had. Normally, by 10:30 AM the "good byes until next year" are said and all the cookies and drinks are cleared away, AND all of the eggs have venn found. BUT, this year, five of the six eggs containing the money prizes had not been found! Kids and adults started scurrying around in all directions to find the $1, $2, and $5 eggs on both sides of the yard. Mitchel Mustard was the only one to find a prize egg by 10:30.

Hiding the eggs this year were Erin Scourby and Austin Durall, from Chattanooga, so that the host and hostess can't take the blame, (maybe just a little). Jay Kirchner in the 5-and-under group finally found the $5 egg with lots of effort, however, the #2 egg is still missing!

For the 6-12 group, Austin Paul finally found the $1 egg and then Amelia Fass found the $2 egg but this was with lots of hints from those tow that hid the prize eggs. The $5 egg, now this is the real story. even with every imaginable hint, the search went on and on for about 10 minutes. The "hidees" would stand there and say they were looking at it but no-one, not even the adults, could see where they were looking or see the egg! The reason... we were all standing on it! It was buried in the mulch and the little chicken face on the egg was right there for Erin Branton to find. Yeahhh!

Thanks HW neighbors! You have wonderful, polite children and a big thank to Erin Scourby for helping put the candy in all the eggs and then hiding them. Thanks to all who brought cookies. You are here for the pictures by John Andrews.

Pictures

Here are some pictures of the contestants and the parents, getting ready, on the hunt, and afterward. There was punch and cookies to keep the watchers happy and we all had a great time.

Available Photo Files

If you like the photographs of your children, send me an e-mail (hckrywds@aol.com) and ask for the file by name. I will send you the whole file by return e-mail. The original files are about 400K in size as .JPG files. They have lots of detail and can be made into prints up to 8x10 size. The catalog images shown here are much smaller, but still big for internet use.
