Sparkle Day and Picnic
-- May 17 date for 2003...

Sparkle Day General Information

Sparkle Day is normally held on the first weekend in June. In 2003 it will be on May 17th. Be ready! Sparkle day is a big neighborhood picnic and pot luck dinner and judging of the best front yard gardens in the neighborhood. This is THE big party for the year for Hickory Woods. Our Social Committee handles the organization and enlists volunteers. Give them a call if you want to help with the organization.

Sparkle Day is an annual event in which all of us in Hickory Woods spruce up our lawns and yards. This doesn't mean that you have to go out and spend a lot of money for this event.

The purpose of Sparkle Day is to spruce up our neighborhood and have a good time. Neighbors who have worked hard on their yards and lawns are recognized with ribbons.

Judging of the yards and lawns is by people from outside the neighborhood. Judging begins around 1:00 PM.

Ribbons are awarded following the judging and are placed on the mailboxes of the winning houses.

Every household participates.

Yards that meet the judging criteria are awarded a ribbon.

Blue ribbons are the best of the best.

Judging is done for the following for both Blue and Other ribbons:

Additionally, for Blue Ribbon yards:

Blue ribbon yards are the best of the best and set these yards apart from the rest.

We want to give lots of ribbons, so check now and make sure you don't lose out on a detail listed above.
