The Alzheimer’s Association’s annual Memory Walk for Alzheimer’s disease
will take place on Saturday, April 14, 2007 at Second Presbyterian Church, 2829 Kingston Pike in Knoxville. Over 600 people across Knox County are expected to participate in this year’s event to raise funds and promote the progress surrounding Alzheimer’s.

Phillip and Vicky Fulmer, as well as Fuad Reveiz have been named as honorary chairpersons for the 2007 walk. Phillip Fulmer is a former player and the current head football coach at the University of Tennessee, where he has been since 1992. Under Coach Fulmer, Tennessee has won two SEC championships, in 1997 and 1998, and a national championship in 1998.

Fuad Reveiz is a former placekicker for the Miami Dolphins, San Diego Chargers, and Minnesota Vikings, as well as the University of Tennessee. After his retirement from pro football in 1996, he founded a home remodeling company called Reveiz and Co. He is now the host of the Weekend Remodeling television show on the DIY Network, in addition to being the featured NFL analyst for ESPN on their ESPN International and ESPNdeportes networks.

The Fulmers and Reveiz join the list of honorary chairpersons which includes Beth Haynes and Russell Biven of WBIR’s “Live at Five,” as well as Gunner, popular afternoon on-air personality at WIVK-FM.

The Alzheimer’s Association’s Memory Walk is the largest national fundraising event for Alzheimer disease support programs and is held in more than 600 communities across the country. It attracts a wide audience of individuals, families, caregivers and corporate and community leaders. Americans who have participated in these walks have raised more than
$200 million for programs and services to support individuals with Alzheimer’s disease.

The 2006 Knox County Memory Walk was a successful event, raising over $158,500 for the Eastern Tennessee Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association. “We are looking forward to building on last year’s event and are excited about having new teams and participants join us,” said Vonnie Oaks, event chairperson. “This kick off is just the beginning of great things to come.”
