The following is some feedback we have received from folks who have seen our productions:
- "InterAct performed for the Tennessee School for the Deaf staff and students this Spring. It was an absolutely fantastic performance. The students were enthralled by the actors. The actors made a classic children's story . . . come alive. It was the first time that many of our students saw a play with both hearing and deaf actors. It was a completely accessible play for them. They understood what was being said through the medium of sign language. The play was so well done, that the adults in the audience enjoyed the play as much as the students" -- Administrator from The Tennessee School for the Deaf
- "InterAct has been a very positive part of {the Family Learning Weekend} and the students and parents look forward to the performance each year at the conclusion of the weekend. Having also seen the group's public performances I believe InterAct has had a very positive impact on the community . . . InterAct has played a large role in making our Family Learning Weekend a success . . ." -- Administrators from the Tennessee School for the Deaf
- "{A}ll my students enjoyed {your} production. The acting and interpreting were so well done . . . {T}he deaf community misses out on many productions and cultural events due to the communication issue. I think you are on the 'cutting edge' of an exciting idea and method for providing equality to both deaf students and adults!" -- Former Elementary School Supervisor from the Tennessee School for the Deaf
- "Your performance of Hansel and Gretel. . . was terrific! . . . I am a third grade teacher and have been teaching deaf children for more than twenty-five years. The kids were so involved they were just about out there performing with you. Throughout the play they were either 'signing' responses or jumping on my lap because the 'witches' were around . . . What a gift for all the Deaf population but especially for the children! So often performances are lost to a lack of any interpreting or to an interpreter far away from the action. This is really hard for kids and they often miss the dialogue altogether. Not so with your
play . . . Your performance was excellent and you should share it with many others . . . Your contribution is more than we can measure and your plays are great fun for us all." -- Elementary Teacher from the Tennessee School for the Deaf
- "My two children and I saw your production . . . at the Palace Theatre in Maryville . . . It was fabulous! My kids, aged 9 & 12 years, weren't too sure about going to 'some' play on a Saturday morning, and none of us knew what to expect. Speaking enthusiastically for all of us, 'Just Like Us' was extremely well written, acted, sung and danced. I cannot single out any one performer in particular for praise -- everyone was terrific. And, be assured, the wonderful message of the story was not lost on my kids. They got it,
and appreciated it. Me too! Thanks and congratulations to Interact for a job very well done. We will make a point of seeing all your
productions in the future. Your work is both entertaining and
beneficial." -- Community Patron
- "What a raving success the Aesop's Fables presentation was for the . . . kids. But
the real test was that the adults around me . . . almost fell out of their seats, laughing,
enjoying, grinning, poking each other over the puns and nuanced
jokes. I mean, I haven't had a good couple of laughs, like that,
back to back, in a long while. I told many folks that I saw yesterday
that I believe the {school} enrollment will clamor to learn sign
language
as well, after all that they saw and enjoyed. Thank you, thank you for
inviting me." -- University of Tennessee Professor
- "I can't tell you how much my school enjoyed your performance. Thank you so much! Several teachers as well as students went on about how much they enjoyed the show . . ." -- Educational Sign Language Interpreter (K-12, Public School)
