Tammy Cate joined InterAct after getting involved in our Spring 2001 production, Just Like Us, in which she shadow interpreted for the poetry-loving Yellows. Tammy received her Bachelor of Arts in Sign Language Interpreting from Maryville College and recently received her Master's at The University of Tennessee while working at the Center on Deafness there as well. She is pictured above as a Wolf from our Fall '02 production of The Jungle Book, adapted by Meg Beach.

Teressa Gregory is Co-Founder of InterAct and serves as Board Director. She co-produces and assistant directs InterAct's productions and assists with costumes and set construction as well. She assisted with The Tennessee Stage Company's shadow interpreted production of A Midsummer Night's Dream in August 1997 and with InterAct's pilot project performance of "Little Red Riding Hood" at the Tennessee School for the Deaf (TSD) in April 1998. She worked at TSD for ten years before getting her Bachelor of Science in Education (majoring in Human Services with a focus on Educational Interpreting) at UT. Teressa serves as Coordinator for The Office of Disability Services at The University of Tennessee and served as Program Coordinator for KTRID for two years. Teressa enjoys watching the deaf kids enjoy a good story on stage. In the above photo, Teressa steps in to interpret for Tabaqui, the Jackal (Shere Khan's shadow) in our Fall '02 production of The Jungle Book.

Mark Hamrick, Stage Designer and Technical Head, is affectionately known as "The Cardboard King," and with creativity, his innovative use of that versatile cardboard (and other materials!), and his beautiful paint strokes, InterAct's set designs are interesting and full of life every time. Mark has a Bachelor's degree in Art Education and teaches art at the Tennessee School for the Deaf. He is pictured above as Mr. Dorset's shadow in our production of The Ransom of Emily Jane.

James Harrison performed onstage in InterAct's productions of The Invisible Dragon and The Rabbit Who Wanted Red Wings. He directed our Fall 2000 and Spring 2001 productions, The King Who Loved His Lollipops and Just Like Us, and performed as Aesop (and many other characters) in our Fall 2001 production of Three Fables and the title character in our Spring 2002 production of Hyronomous A. Frog, the Frog Prince (as pictured here). He has also played Bagheera in our Fall '02 production of The Jungle Book and Sonny in our production of The Ransom of Emily Jane. James is the resident dance and music expert in InterAct's productions. He performs with Circle Modern Dance, plays music, works as a sign language interpreter, and generally likes to kick back and enjoy life.

Julie Danielson is Co-Founder of InterAct and formerly served as Artistic Director. She now lives in Nashville with her husband and daughter. In addition to the creation and maintenance of InterAct's web page, she co-produced, assistant directed, and handled publicity for productions, sometimes shadow interpreting on stage. She shadowed interpreted four children's shows with The Actors Co-op and The Tennessee Stage Company prior to the incorporation of InterAct. She also had the great fortune of interning with the Fairmount Theatre for the Deaf (now Cleveland SignStage Theatre) for a short time as an undergraduate. She worked as a Staff Interpreter for The Office of Disability Services at The University of Tennessee (UT) for five years and, most recently, as the Librarian at the Tennessee School for the Deaf.

Robin Hamrick joined InterAct in 2000, has been seen on stage in a major role for each of InterAct's productions since its inception, and is our Leading Lady. She assists with script selection, auditions, backstage responsibilities, and a multitude of other responsibilities. She received her degree in Speech Language Pathology from UT in 1989 and worked at the Tennessee School for the Deaf for fourteen years. Robin greatly enjoys bringing literature to life on stage for children who are deaf. She is pictured here in the title role of our Spring '03 production of The Ransom of Emily Jane.

Kim Hinchey has shadow interpreted on stage for a majority of InterAct's productions. Kim is a Staff Interpreter for The Office of Disability Services at The University of Tennessee (UT) and is certified by the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf. She also serves as President of the Tennessee Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf and Vice President for the Knoxville Tennessee Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf. Kim is pictured here as shadow interpreter for the town gossips in The Ransom of Emily Jane, our Spring '03 production.

Missey Wright photo of Missey in 'Three Fables'Missey joined InterAct at the same time as her sister, Tammy, during the Spring 2001 production of Just Like Us. Missey is a Carson Newman drama graduate, works as a freelance puppeteer, and puts her many creative talents to work at Dollywood. Missey assists InterAct with publicity as well. Here she is pictured (left) in a rehearsal photo of our 2001 production of Kipling's Three Fables.



Carol LaCava photo of Carol as Kaa's shadow in 'The Jungle Book'Carol is Co-Founder of InterAct and serves as Project Director. She co-produces, assistant directs, and costumes productions; Carol's creative costumes for our production of The Rabbit Who Wanted Red Wings garnered her a 2001 nomination for Best Costume Design at the Knoxville Area Theatre Coalition Awards. Carol often steps in to be on stage when needed and serves as Interpreter Consultant for all productions. She also works hard as InterAct's treasurer and grant manager. Carol shadowed interpreted four children's shows with The Actors Co-op and The Tennessee Stage Company prior to the incorporation of InterAct. Carol is the Coordinator of the Educational Interpreting Program at The University of Tennessee and teaches classes there as well. She received her Bachelor's degree in Sign Language Interpreting from Maryville College and her Master's in Deaf Education at UT. She is certified by the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID), has served as President for the Tennessee Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf , and presently serves as President of the Knoxville chapter of RID. She enjoys the creative process of deaf and hearing actors working together and finds it very rewarding. Carol is pictured here as the shadow interpreter for Kaa in our Fall '02 production of The Jungle Book.
