READINESS CERTIFICATE

Tennessee’s Career Readiness Certificate (CRC) gives you proof of your job skills. Today’s economy is placing a higher demand on potential employees. Jobs are increasingly moving from unskilled to skilled professions. The Career Readiness Certificates respond to several of the needs of the modern workforce economy:

ü The increasing skills needs of the job market

ü The gap between the skills of the existing workforce and newly created jobs

ü The need to assist employers in order to be competitive in a world market

ü The need to assist the workforce in finding meaningful employment

ü The competitiveness of a state’s economy in attracting new employers

The CRC is a portable credential that promotes career development and skill attainment for the individual. The CRC also confirms to employers that potential employees possess basic workplace skills in reading, applied math, and locating information – skills that are required in 90% of all jobs. Individuals complete the WorkKeys assessment and either earn a CRC or identify areas in which they need further training to obtain the certificate.

Recipients are awarded certificates of Gold, Silver, or Bronze levels, depending on their skill levels in Applied Mathematics, Reading for Information, and Locating Information.
