The Knoxville Blue Mass

2007

September 29, 2007

The fourth Knoxville Blue Mass on the Feast of the Archangels, 2007, was a wonderful celebration, thanks to the attendance of a large number of active and retired law enforcement officials, firefighters, and their families. Pastor of Holy Ghost Church Msgr. Xavier Mankel, was the celebrant and homilist.. Council 645 Grand Knight Jack McCusker gave the first reading.

The success of the event is due to the participation of the Celebrant, Altar Servers, Cantor David Ensley, Organist Charles Walden, Holy Ghost's Charles Chandler and the Holy Ghost Parish staff, the Knoxville Police Department Color Guard, the Knights of Columbus 4th Degree Honor Guard, the Knights of Columbus Council 645, Det. Mike Duncan of the Holy Ghost parish council, and parishioners from Holy Ghost Catholic Church. Thanks also to the Breakfast Crew: Greg McGinnis, Mike Drake, and David Cavalari.

Roughly 100 people attended the Mass, with about 50 joining us for the pancake breakfast afterward.

As so many people contributed to this effort, if anyone has been omitted, please contact us at kc645@korrnet.org so that we can correct the error and properly recognize their contribution.

We hope that this Mass begins a tradition in Knoxville, and that September 29th becomes a day to recognize and honor our law enforcement officials and firefighters for many years to come. See you next year on Monday, September 29, 2008!

Vivat Jesus!
