Tennessee State Convention: The 2008 State Convention was held in Franklin April 25-27. Our council was represented by PGK Doc Davidson and GK Jack McCusker. It was a good Convention for our council. We were awarded the State Chaplain's award. Our selection for this prestigious award was based primarily on our work on the annual Blue Mass. We were also selected for the Youth Activity Award, which was presented at the State Banquet on Saturday Evening. The presentation cited our continuing efforts to support Saint Joseph School with specific references to our efforts at the Fall Festival, the Mardi Gras, the Sister Jolita St Patrick Dinner and the recent art auction to benefit the school's building program. We received these honors becuase of the work of many of our members and we should all be proud of the council's efforts. The resolution submitted by 645 concerning life insurance was passed by the convention delegates and will be presented to the Supreme Convention later this summer. Mike Wills of 5207 was elected as State Treasurer and our former DD Jim Bruun was elected to the position of Warden. Jack McCusker was elected as director of the State MR Foundation. The award plaques will be available at the next meeting on May 6th.

Knights of Columbus Memorial Window: The new St. John Neuman Church in Farragut is nearing completion. A decision has been made to commission a stained glass window honoring Venerable Father Michael McGivney and also dedicated to the memory of deceased members of the Knights of Columbus throughout the state of Tennessee and their families. This window will be placed in the new church by the end of the year 2008 and will incorporate the K of C emblem, Fr. McGivney's image, some examples of the corporal and spiritual works of mercy and the four principles of our order. Donations are being accepted to help defray the cost of this worthy project. If you would like to participate checks should be made out to St. John Neuman Parish (K of C Window) and sent to Council 645 at PO Box 5217 Knoxville, TN 37928.
