ANSWERS SUGGESTED AT CARTER HIGH SCHOOL

These 'Answers' were suggested by citizens at a public forum held at Carter High School:
 
  1. Open elections for all county commissioners

  2. Review all functions of local government to reduce duplication of services

  3. Take better care of tax money

  4. Avoid nepotism

  5. Limit campaign spending

  6. More responsive to public, more informed and engaged

  7. More economic development

  8. Desire to use 'Brown Fields' rather than agricultural land

  9. Guide and direct residential developers

  10. Freeze and index property taxes

  11. Education regime based on consumer choice

  12. County commission better balanced in its view

  13. County government that listens to citizens

  14. Dissolve Knox County Development Corporation

  15. Better oversight of purchase surplus practices

  16. Rule recent election null and void with new election and term limits

  17. Knox County Development Corporation accountable to the people

  18. Developers to provide infrastructure in their project

  19. Adequately fund public libraries

  20. Knox County Development Corporation and MPC more responsive to public input

  21. Abide by the sector plan

  54. Knox County government should be more responsive to public's desire to be informed and engaged. Encourage broader public participation in major issues. Should require public input process such as this
