Comcast will come in a as a new $1,000 sponsor and there are some prospects for other new sponsors.
Special Projects
Guest John Evans, County Solid Waste Director, commented on a meeting with representatives from the City of Knoxville and KKB about setting up a City of Knoxville adopt-a-street program. KKB may be able to have a role in helping promote the program. The City reps knew about the litter grant arrangement between Knox County and KKB and expressed no interest in those funds to run their program. In return, Knox County is open to providing consumables like gloves, litter bags and vests to City groups.
Tom and Cortney reported on the UT marketing students focus group results. A handout package was distributed with notes from the meetings and comments from confidential surveys done by the participants.
Cortney reported on a meeting between KKB and Mike Edwards at the Chamber. The Chamber is willing to help promote cleanups as an economic development issue and to set up a committee of volunteers to help us promote a clean business program when the time comes. Mike Edwards will also find a Chamber volunteer to serve on the KKB board.
Unfinished Business
There was no unfinished business.
New Business
Scott Frith reported there will be a cleanup along Maynardville Highway on February 7th.
