·         35 of 70 GAC groups have reported ~1500 volunteers and ~5,900 hours of work.

·         KKB's float at the Dogwood parade won the "Pride of Knoxville" award for most original design. Thanks to board members Darrin Rhines, Maxine Gunter, Ann Felknor, and Sharon Webb for working on the float and walking in the parade. A special thanks to Jimy White of White Lawn Care for helping build the float and Bruce Weuthrich from Knox County Engineering for volunteering their salt shed to store the trailer/float. The float had a water feature and the "Stop Litter" messaging. Litter bags were passed out along the float route.

·         KKB had a very large booth (paid for by SP Recycling) at EarthFest, 14,000 attended.  Volunteers passed information, 'Don't Throw Down' stickers and encouraged people to vote in the poster contest.

The next day only ~25 lbs of trash went to the landfill from a crowd of about 14,000. Total composted ~460 lbs and total .recycled was about ~440 lbs. The site was virtually litter-free.

·         The KKB poster contest, with the Drink-it-then-Sink-it National Dairy Council theme was a success this year. 9 schools participated in the poster contest and ~200 ballots were cast at the judging at Earth Fest. 10 winners, first grade and up, received prizes provided by the National Dairy Council and SP Recycling ranging from backpacks and Frisbees to 'milk' pencil toppers.
