GREAT AMERICAN
CLEANUP
The Great American Cleanup™
is a nation wide effort to clean up and beautify the country. It is a
time to focus on community improvement. On March 7, 2009 164 volunteers
joined together to gather 8,772 pounds of trash and 65 tires.
We are asking everyone to come out and take a part in
the community improvement effort that is going on right now. Don't just
clean up, beautify. Don't forget to tell us how your
cleanup went so we can add you in the numbers. Help
us to reach 10,000 volunteers.

AAA Foundation Road
Debris Study

Keep Knoxville Beautiful, AAA of East Tennessee, Knox
County and the City of Knoxville held a joint press
conference on Thursday, July 22, 2004 to bring attention to the study by
the AAA Foundation about vehicle-related road debris. The most
cost effective way to prevent accidents, property damage, injuries and
deaths from road debris is to properly secure all items being
transported in a vehicle. Click
here to read a summary and the full report. Litter
officials believe that a significant portion of roadside litter is
actually escaping from the beds of trucks and that cleanup cost to
taxpayers can be avoided if citizens will properly secure
loads.
