President James Hamilton called the meeting to order at 7:35pm.  We welcomed 1 new member and 1 visitor.

Reports

Treasurer:  Albert Ingram gave a final tally of our accounts for the past year, he said he would be sending in our tax return next week.  He also reminded us that it is time to pay membership dues and that he would be taking them at the break or dues can be mailed to him.

Field Trip:  Chair Danny Miller discussed his need for club members to help with field trips this year.  He is doing much traveling with his job and would like club members who are familiar with sites to volunteer to lead some of our trips.
David Hackett is going to lead this month's trip to Norris.  David reminded us that if the snow accumulates, we would postpone this trip until next month.

Show 2001:  The Club discussed whether to have a show this year, so that we could reserve the Kerbela Temple soon.  John Teague made a motion that we go ahead and make the reservation for the 3rd weekend in October.  This was seconded by Louise Tipton. The motion passed.

John Watkins gave a report from the SFMS; the 1st board meeting will be February 24, 2001 in Jackson, Mississippi.  The Mississippi Gem and Mineral Society will have their 42nd Annual Gem, Mineral, Fossil and Jewelry Show.

Patsy Monk reported that Dorothy Campbell was one of the scholarship winners drawn at the annual meeting in Oak Ridge in October.  She may attend any workshop of her choice at either William Holland or Wildacres in the year 2001.  This brought up discussion of the stamp program.  Flora Walker explained the Program and asked everyone to bring in canceled stamps

Red Walker won the door prize.

After the break Red and Flora Walker gave a report about the mineral class that they had taught at a local elementary school.

David Hackett gave an interesting talk on the January field trip location up at Norris Lake.

The meeting was adjourned at 9:30pm.
