March 22nd 2009 - KGMS Field Trip

March 22nd 2009 - Fern fossil shale matrixes, calamites, lepilidendron, and etc.

  • Surface Collecting: Fossil Fern Leaves in shale matrix, lepilidendron, calamites, and other possible finds.
  • Meeting Collection: McDonalds on ILLINOIS AVE in Oak Ridge TN.
  • Meeting Date/Time: Sunday March 22nd 2009 / 1:00pm
  • Travel Time: The location which we will be collecting is close to Windrock Mtn. and is about a 30 minute drive from Oak Ridge.
  • Tools: Hammer, Flat screwdriver (or thin flat chisel), safety glasses, bucket and/or box (to store specimens), and newspaper to wrap specimens.
  • Note:
    1. For Insurance Purposes all NON-MEMBERS must provide proof of liability insurance to attend this KGMS fieldtrip or pay $20 membership dues to become a new member covered by KGMS Insurance.
    2. This is an excellent fieldtrip for even the youngest pebblepups !!!

March Field Trip

The meeting location for monthly meetings has recently changed since the old location is undergoing renovations. The new meeting location for KGMS will be at Pellissipi State University until further notice. Directions and map to new KGSM meeting location.
