Witness through Common Ministries

1. Christmas Dinner

Our annual Christmas Dinner for people who are alone on Christmas day was begun in 1979 by a small group of young people at Immaculate Conception, and from there it has grown into a dinner and party for 300 people. Originally it was begun for older people in our congregations but now includes mostly elderly people from the greater Knoxville community who are alone on this the day of our Lord’s birth.  A tremendous cooperative effort goes into providing the food, gifts, transportation, staff, and financial backing to make this dinner a reality.

2. Church Directory

We publish a church directory with listings of times of worship of the member churches for distribution to visitors in the downtown area.

3. Volunteer Ministry Center and The Refuge

The KICCUP churches were responsible for helping organize the Volunteer Ministry Center and The Refuge. VMC was established to help churches respond to the needs of people who come knocking on their door asking for help. Through volunteers, the needs of many people are met in an efficient, in-depth manner.

4. InterFaith Health Clinic

KICCUP was also instrumental in helping to start the InterFaith Health Clinic. This clinic, located on Gill Street, meets the needs of the uninsured, working poor through doctors, dentists and nurses who volunteer their time.

5. Support to other agencies

Through the offerings taken at the community worship services a number of community agencies are offered support and exposure at the annual worship services.  In the past, KICCUP has offered community grants through a generous bequest that was left to the organization.
