Parent Involvement

Parent involvement is an important part of the culture of KMS. Such involvement helps the school financially and in other ways, and it provides opportunities for parents to experience the school environment, to share the joy of learning with their child, and to develop a dialogue with their child's teacher, with the rest of the staff, and with other families in the KMS community. For all of these reasons, we ask each family to volunteer at least 10 hours per year, and we offer parents a variety of ways to become involved.

• Parents are encouraged to share special talents and skills in the classroom.
• Parents serve as drivers and chaperones for field trips.
• Parents organize a Fall Festival for the school.
• Parents make up the majority of our Board of Trustees. 
• Parents take primary responsibility for fundraising by helping with Greekfest parking, the annual Fundraising Dinner and Auction, and other fundraising projects.
• Parents help to maintain the KMS building and grounds by planting flower beds, raking leaves, replaenishing sand boxes, etc. (Parents willing to participate in our annual spring and fall Saturday Playground Workdays on the playground are particularly appreciated.)
