  • Each person in the United States throws away an average of one ton of garbage per year.

  • Because of tourism, the average for residents in Sevier County is 1.4 tons of garbage per year.

  • The cities and county create 170 million pounds of house hold garbage and waste water sludge each year.

  • An additional 31 million pounds of demolition waste and yard waste are disposed of at our Demolition Landfill each year.

  • All of the household garbage is known as Class I refuse. All construction and demolition waste is known as Class IV refuse.

  • Currently 68% of all the Class I waste and sludge produced in Sevier County is composted each year. All Class IV is disposed of at Sevier Solid Waste's Demolition Landfill.
