  Congratulations to the League of Women Voters of Blount County on its recent promotion from a Member-At-Large State Unit to Full Local League status. LWV of Blount County was officially recognized at the 2008 national convention and is the first new chapter in Tennessee in 20 years.

The League of Women Voters is a multifaceted grass roots organization dedicated to keeping democracy strong, giving you a voice in your government.

The League works through the American political process to bring about constructive change by:

  • registering voters and defending voting rights
  • informing citizens about their rights and responsibilities
  • informing the public through our in-depth issues analyses
  • sponsoring candidate debates and public issues forums
  • taking action through lobbying for change
MISSION STATEMENTS:
The League of Women Voters, a nonpartisan political organization, encourages informed and active participation in government, works to increase understanding of major public policy issues, and influences public policy through education and advocacy.


The League of Women Voters of Blount County is a nonpartisan group of women and men who seek to organize and foster open conversation, education, and voter registration. It is our aim to empower people to engage fully in the political process.
