Want to get involved? Join the Friends! Organized in 1997 to support the library, the main focus of the Friends of the Library is to assist the library in fundraising efforts. Currently, the library receives partial funding from the city of Townsend, but is dependent on private donations to meet the balance of its operating budget. The three main fundraising activities sponsored by the Friends include:

• Our Yearly Membership Drive
• The Mary Tippitt Memorial Golf Tournament
• Food booth at the Fall Heritage Days Festival, Townsend Visitors Center

In addition to funding the general operating budget, the Friends also raise money for specific library projects, such as computers.

We meet the second Thursday of the month at 5:00 PM at the library and would certainly welcome new members. For more information, please call the library at 448-1441.
