The Tennessee Electronic Library provides free online access to selected electronic databases for all libraries serving the citizens of the state of Tennessee: public, academic, school, and not-for-profit special libraries. TEL is supported by state and federal funds under the Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) and is administered by the Tennessee State Library and Archives, a division of the Tennessee Department of State.

Anyone may use the newspaper and magazine databases in the Tennessee Electronic Library (TEL). For use in the library, just click on the above logo. From other locations, you must enter a password to access the databases. The password may be obtained from the librarian.

The following databases are available:

• Business and Company ASAP
  Information on companies, markets and industries from business and trade journals, newspapers and company directory profiles with full texts and images.
• National Newspaper Index
  Indexes America's top five newspapers - The New York Times, The wWall Street Journal, The Christian Science Monitor, Los Angeles Times and the Washington Post.

• Health and Wellness Resource Center
  Magazine, journal and newspaper articles, definitions, directories and information on health topics of common interest. Linkes to diet, cancer, health assessment and government database sites are included.
• Health Reference Center Academic
  Articles on common health issues
• Expanded Academic ASAP
  Scholarly journals, magazines and newspapers, many with full text and images, to meet research needs across all academic disciplines.
• General Reference Center Gold
  A general interest database containing information from a newspapers, reference books and periodicals, many with full text and images.
• Kids Edition
  Periodical database designed for elementary students. Full text articles on current events, popular culture, business, the arts, sports, and more.
• Junior Edition
  Periodical database designed for middle and junior high students. Full text articles on current events, popular culture, business, the arts, sports, and more.
• Student Edition
  Periodical database designed for high school students. Full text articles on current events, popular culture, business, the arts, sports, and more.
• What Do I Read Next?
  Recommended titles and plot summaries to help users find new reading adventures and long remembered favorites. Search by genre, subject, author or title.
• Contemporary Literary Criticism
  An extensive collection of critical essays on contemporary authors.
