2008 Summer Reading Program

When: May 27-June 30, 2008

Ages: 0-12 years

Starship Adventure @ Your Library is a program where children can earn incentives for either listening to or reading books from home or the library.  At the end of the program, the top readers/listeners will be entered into a grand prize drawing.  There will also be weekly story time programs for both preschool and school aged children, and special guest presentations planned.

Registration begins on Monday, May 5.  Each child who registers will receive a log book to record his/her books or pages read.  To receive incentive prizes, weekly drawing entries, and to be entered in the grand prize drawing, all log books must be completely filled out and presented to the librarian.  Incentives will not be awarded once a patron leaves the library.  The library is not responsible for lost/missing log books or incentive prizes.  However, new log books will be available if needed.

There are five levels for the program.  For every 10 books or 300 pages read each child will receive a small coupon or incentive prize and have his/her name entered into a weekly prize drawing.  A certificate of completion will be awarded to children who have read and completed all five levels (50 books or 1500 pages) by the end of the program.

Children who have completed the program by reading at least 50 books or 1500 pages will also be entered into the grand prize drawing.  Children can earn additional entries into the drawing for every 10 books or 300 pages read beyond the minimum requirement, but will not receive any additional incentive prizes or be entered into weekly drawings.  The grand prize drawing will be held on July 1st.  Children do not need to be present to win.  All winners will be contacted by phone.  The last day log books will be accepted is June 30th.  NO EXCEPTIONS!
