individuals to concentrate community awareness efforts on mental illness

To observe National Mental Illness Awareness Week To support, care and encourage the mentally ill and their families To advocate for expanded and improved programs and services for the mentally ill and their families To provide education for the community to increase understanding about mental illness and to reduce the stigma associated with mental illness and improve opportunities for quality education for the mentally ill To promote research regarding the cause, treatment and search for a cure of mental illness To ensure development and maintenance of an effective and well-organized MIAC in the East Tennessee area, including soliciting and receiving funds for the above purposes To serve as a charitable and educational organization within the meaning of Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code |
