NAMI Knoxville provides caring- not financial- support for persons with a mental illness and their families through:

·   support groups;

·   our official Website: www.namiknoxville.org; and

·   our NAMI Knoxville telephone line at (865) 602-7807.

Telephone support may include information about mental illness, its treatment and support services, and other resources for persons with a mental illness and/or their families and encouragement from staff and volunteers who are mainly people with the same or similar experiences.

The With Hope in Mind (WHIM) Program

- is an eight-week course for family members and care givers of persons with mental illness.

Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP)

-          is a system to monitor, reduce, and/or eliminate uncomfortable symptoms and dangerous feelings associated with any chronic illness, especially those associated with psychiatric diagnoses

-          WRAP, identified by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) as an exemplary best practice, was developed by Mary Ellen Copeland and endorsed by the Tennessee Dept. of Mental Health and Developmental Disabilities.

-          Mental Health Recovery Seminar I is a 16-hour minimum course that includes the five key recovery concepts and the Wellness Recovery Action Plan.

-          Mental Health Recovery Seminar II is a 40-hour course whose graduates are certified to facilitate Mental Health Recovery Seminar I including the Wellness Recovery Action Plan.
