Library Policies

Loan Periods & Fines

• Books may be checked out for 14 days. Late charges are 5 cents a day.
• Reference books and special collections books are not to be checked out.
• The most current copy of any periodical may not be checked out. Other periodicals may be checked out for 7 days.
• Videos and DVD's may be checked out 3 at a time for 3 days. Late charges are 25 cents a day.
• Informational and educational videos may be checked out for 14 days. Late charges are 25 cents a day.

Internet & Computer Policy
A signed copy the Internet access policy is required before a patron may use the computers. Parents/legal guardians must be present in the library to sign a policy for their children. For legal reasons, we cannot send the policy forms home with the children to be signed by the parent or legal guardian.

1. Must have the library's Acceptable Use Policy (Internet access policy) signed and on file to use the computer.
2. Sign name and time at the front desk.
3. Ask an employee for permission to print.
4. Each printed page will cost 10 cents.
5. Students are allowed three free pages for school work.
6. Users cannot save any data to the computer's hard drive.
7. Users may not bring in any outside materials. (programs)
8. There is a 30 minute limit per user if someone is waiting to use a computer.
9. Users cannot use Internet Relay Chat services.
10. Do not shut down the computer when you are finished. Log off if you know how, or ask at the front desk if you do not.

Library Membership
Anyone living in Anderson County may become a member of the Norris Community Library. Applications are available at the front desk. Please present a valid ID when filling out the application. There is no fee for membership.

General Policies
No food or drinks are allowed inside the library. No skateboards or rollerblades are allowed inside the library. No running is allowed inside the library. There are a lot of sharp corners in a library! Parents are asked to monitor their children inside the library.
