Library Collection
The Norris Community Library collection offers fiction, non-fiction, periodicals, videocassettes, and audiocassettes (including books on tape) for both young and old alike. Click here to visit our "What's New" section to see new additions to our collections.

  • Fiction: Fiction deals not only in plotlines, characters, or shrewd narratives, but also in truth, touching us by revealing a part of ourselves. Stories are a reflection of our unconscious, telling us more about ourselves than we know. The library has thousands of volumes of fiction works, from classical to modern, obscure titles to best-sellers. A lease program with Baker & Taylor makes it possible to keep up with the most current releases. If there is a book coming out that our patrons are interested in reading, please let the librarian know the title. We are happy to request it for you.

  • Non-Fiction: This is a section of the library that contains information about anything from history to metaphysics and many steps between. We have materials about visual arts, poetry, physics, financial planning, cooking, history and many other topics. If we can't find a book on what you need to know, please ask. We have other ways of finding materials that are not located in our library.

    • Periodicals: We carry a variety of magazines for the adults and children, as well as our local newspaper, The Norris Bulletin. We have a back-issue collection up to one year, and periodicals other than the most recent edition may be checked out for 7 days. Norris Library patrons can also find electronic access to many periodicals via the Tennessee Electronic Library.

    • Audio/Visual: Videos for children and adults are available for entertainment and educational purposes. We have hundreds of titles. We also have many books-on-tape, which are great for those long drives or for commuters. If we don't have what you are looking for, please let us know.

    • Juvenile Books: Juvenile fiction and non-fiction are located on the east side of the library. The Newbery Award winners are located in a special section for easy access to our younger patrons.

    • Paperbacks: The newly-added section built especially for the fiction paperbacks may not be the prettiest section in the library, but it is very popular. We have individual areas for Science Fiction/Fantasy, Romances, and Westerns. Back to the top

      Circulation Desk
Please feel free to ask our library staff for assistance in finding information or entertainment. At the circulation desk you will find:

      1. A smiling face waiting to help you.
      2. Our local Accelerated Reader Book List.
      3. Someone who knows how to find information about virtually any topic.
      Reference & Computer Room
Our Reference & Computer Room is a one-stop location for research of any kind. The computers have internet access; please take a moment to read our internet access policies and our rules for using the computers. We are constantly updating our reference collection, which is enhanced by the Encarta Encyclopedia that is located within the computers that were made possible through the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. For the latest information located in current periodicals, please log in to the Tennessee Electronic Library.

      Children's Section
The children's section was made possible by a memorial donation from the family of Theron J. Fields. Their generosity has provided the children with an accessible area for our increasing collection of children's books. Above the children's books are our parenting books. Many parents enjoy the convenient placement of these materials because they can look at the parenting books while monitoring their children. We encourage the parents to contact us concerning our yearly Summer Reading Program.
