"How to Listen Constructively, Creatively, Caringly" is open to anyone in the community and is also the first step for people who may be interested in becoming a volunteer phone worker for CONTACT Helpline, though there is no obligation to do so. The daytime sessions can also be an opportunity for companies to acquire valuable interpersonal skills for their employees, and may qualify for continuing education requirements.
"How to Listen" teaches powerful listening skills that everyone can use in their daily lives with family, friends, and co-workers by helping participants develop empathetic, non-judgmental listening techniques. This extensive training, presented by counselors and mental health professionals, offers important information on many of the problems people face and how we can respond in skilled, helpful ways. Practice sessions in a supportive, nonjudgmental atmosphere help participants begin to use their new skills and gain confidence as they discover the value of constructive, caring listening.
