The Oak Ridge Institute for Continued
Learning is
sponsored by Roane State Community College. ORICL is administered
by a board elected by the members. Roane State provides
classrooms, an office, and administrative support.
Residents of Oak Ridge, and the
surrounding
area,
of all backgrounds and educational levels, are invited to become
members
of ORICL. The program is designed to respond to the interests of
the members, who may take courses and join in other activities.
ORICL has three terms a year, Fall,
Winter/Spring,
and Summer,
in that order. The Fall membership is $90.00 and covers all three
terms. The Winter/Spring membership is $70.00 and covers the
Winter/Spring and
Summer terms. The Summer membership is $40.00. In order to
attend classes or activities, one must be a paid member. Field
trips,
and courses requiring labs, entail additional fees. During early
registration, members are
entitled
to choose up to five courses and five field
trips each term. If a course or trip is oversubscribed, a random
selection will determine who is admitted. After the initial
registration process is completed, members
may
sign up for additional classes and trips on a space available
basis. Waiting lists are maintained for possible openings in
oversubscribed courses.
Out-of-town guests may be class visitors
for one session on a space-available basis. Call the office for
availability, as seating space is sometimes limited. For trip participation, however, one must
be an ORICL member. |
