SPECIAL MEETING IN DECEMBER

For all members, we will gather about 6:30 p.m. in the "back room" of the Soup Kitchen; you should go through the line and get the items that you wish to eat as you come in. It may take a little time for you to decide, so come a little early so you can make your selection and bring it back to the meeting room.

We can have some time to get acquainted and exchange ideas and comments about our experience with computers. President Steve Peyrot will have some new information plus some desirable handouts and door prizes for all members.

Everybody come and enjoy.

ANOTHER SHORT COURSE ABOUT VISTA

As people have purchased new computers during the year, they have probably now encountered a PC that uses the Vista Operating System. Also, some people may be considering a new computer that will have this operating system installed.

For those members who did not attend the Schort Course on Vista last year. This course will be repeated for new Vista users, or for experienced Vista users who have not learned about all of the new feature that this system offers.
We will meet at the Senior Center on Thursday, January 15, 2008, at 7:00 p.m. in the Arts and Crafts Room. Then we will meet on following Thursdays until the course is complete. This will be a presentation in the series "Proffessor Teaches" from Individual Software, which is a series of presentations and demonstrations. The unit has eight chapters, and we can usually cover two chapters per meeting.
Many features of VISTA will be similar to those you encountered with Windows XP; however, some features are new. One significant difference is the method that you use for storing files. Rather than creating a folder and a name, you can just use any name that is convenient. When you want to retrieve the file, a built-in search feature will find it based on any characteristics that you can conveniently remember. Or, you can do it the old way.
This course will be open to anyone in the community who is interested. Please pass the word to those you think may be interested.

PLEASE PROVIDE YOUR EVALUATIONS

Several items (books, software, or hardware) were distributed to members at the November meeting. The members who received those items should evaluate them and send your evaluation to our Webmaster, and he will put them on the Web Site.
