Steve Peyrot of the Oak Ridge PC Users Group

on: New Software and Hardware for your PC

Lots of things are happening this month at The Oak Ridge PC Users Group and all members are strongly encourage to attend this meeting.

We promise this meeting to be a jam packed event with a little bit for every member.

The first item on the slate will be the announcement of the nominations for the 2008 Board by John Million. It is not too late to throw your name in the hat if you want to serve in some capacity. Even if you are not running, please show up and help encourage the folks that are. Your support is very important.

Would you like (or even love) some free stuff? Well, if you are willing to write up a product review of the product you select, you can in turn, keep the product as your own. Steve Peyrot has collected a small handful of software and hardware items that will be passed out to the few lucky folks that volunteer to write a review of the product.

With Christmas around the corner and with all kinds of new products coming out, Steve Peyrot will showcase or talk about some of the new products that are coming out this year.

Also, to help see the new products along with an experience that you will long remember. Steve will discuss a free “field trip” that we are planning to a “MEGA” computer store in early December. Kind of a “Sam’s Club” type store but exclusive with computer stuff and cool electronics and no membership fees.

Finally, provided there is enough time left, Steve Peyrot will update us on some of the new and updated portable apps that were discussed back in early summer. Don’t forget, excitement and participation could win you a Tee-shirt or something!!

OFFICERS FOR THE YEAR 2008

A nominating committee was appointed at the last meeting with John Million as Chair. This committee will present a slate of officers willing to serve for the year 2008 at this Meeting. Nominations may be made from the floor. If you are interested and willing to serve as a committee or program chair, please the incoming officers know.

YOUR CONTRIBUTIONS FOR ORPCUG WEB SITE ARE INVITED

Several features have been added to the Web Site of ORPCUG. See it at http://www.orpcug.org. There is a reference to a discussion of "Search Engines" on the Web. If you have a favorite Search Engine that is not already described, please prepare a short write up about it, and forward it to John Sanders as an attachment to an email. Please send it as a WORD file or a Text file from Notepad. Also, there is a page that tells people where to go on the web to get information. If your favorite resouce is not listed, please contribute a short paragraph describing the information that it contains.

We will also have a Question and Answer session, as usual, at the beginning of the meeting.
