Farwell Event
On July 20, 2008 the Oak Ridge Middle School Delegation spent their
times with their host
families. After that we had the Farewell party at Fureai center Yoshino.

We exhibited the Oak Ridge delegation’s work that they wrote at Japanese
culture experience.
They were very good, weren’t they?

The Oak Ridge delegation was given “Happi” (Japanese old clothes when we
usually wear in a
festival) from the president of the International Exchange Association
of Naka.

The Oak Ridge delegation showed the line dance. They were wearing
“Yukata” and “jinbei” (Japanese old style
clothes when you wear insummer) gave from their host families. Naka city
students joined the
dance too.

After the toast, the party began. With the support organization’s
cooperation, so
many tasty food and some fruits and drinks were served. Everybody
enjoyed it.

The member of the Shobukan (the Naka branch of Japan Karate Association)
gave the Karate
performance. The Oak Ridge delegation gazed at their performance with
great interest.

We made some rice cake (it’s called “Mochi” in Japanese.) at the court.
The teachers and the
boys from Oak Ridge challenged pounding steamed rice into cake.

At the last of the party, we danced “Naka-machi Ondo” in a big circle.
“Ondo” is a Japanese
old style dance, usually dance in a circle. We often dance at a
festival.
