Itinerary for Visit by Naka-shi Students and Chaperones       

 

Our guests are on the way!  

 

Friday 

4:30 p.m. Bus leaves JMS gym parking lot for airport
5:37

Students arrive at Knoxville airport and are met by school representatives

7:00 p.m.

Students arrive at JMS.  An evening meal will be served for visitors, staff, and host families in JMS cafeteria.  Host families take their guests home.

          

Saturday - All day - Naka guests stay with host families

 

Monday

7:45 -11:00 a.m Students attend school
11:00-11:30 a.m.   Students picked up at schools
11:30a.m.-12:30 p.m.

Lunch at Big Ed’s - free pizzas and t-shirts

12:45-2:45 p.m.

Tour Museum of Science and Energy - includes exhibits and hands-on activities:  “Atom Smasher,” “Body   Carnival,” “Scavenger Hunts,” and  “Through the Lenses.”     

2:55-3:20 p.m. 

Walk to Friendship Bell at Civic Center. Presentation on Friendship Bell’s origin by Dr. Bill Burris.

3:30 p.m. 

Parents/hosts pick up students and adults at Civic Center

5:00 p.m.

 

Reception at UT Outreach Center (1201 Oak Ridge Turnpike) for Naka-Machi students, their chaperones, host families, Oak Ridge Schools’ staff members, Sister City Organization, and other invited guests. Picture taking session.  Host families take their guests home.

 

Tuesday

7:00 a.m.

Students, chaperones, and school representatives meet at Civic Center
7:15 a.m.             

Depart for Cades Cove and Gatlinburg – box lunches & drinks provided

9:00-10:00 a.m.

Wagon ride tour of Cades Cove

10:00 a.m. -2:30 p.m.

Park Ranger presentation, picnic lunch, shopping in Gatlinburg
4:00 p.m.

Parents/hosts pick up students and adults at Civic Center

 

Wednesday

7:45 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

Students attend school

1:00-1:30 p.m.

Pick up students at schools

1:30-2:30 p.m.

Trip to Fire Station to include hands-on activities such as riding in fire engine, climbing fire tower, etc.

2:40-3:40 p.m.

Visit Wal-Mart Department Store

3:50 p.m.

Parents/hosts pick up students and adults at Civic Center

5:00-9:00 p.m.

Students and host families participate in Farewell Ceremonies at the Briarcliff swimming pool.  “Pot luck” food provided by host families and Sister City Organization members.

 

Thursday

7:00 a.m.

Host families take their guests to the Civic Center for departure.

7:45-8:45 a.m.

Breakfast at Cedar Bluff Cracker Barrel Restaurant

8:45-9:15 a.m.

Travel to airport

11:13 a.m.

Naka guests depart from Knoxville Airport

 

They arrived home safely.
