Famous and Historic Festivals such as Osuke Festival and Nukadadori Bayashi (Japanese classical folk music festival) have been handed down to the present generations and been held regularly in Naka town. Also new original festival which also recently attracts crowds.

Osuke festival is held on August 15th every three years. In the festival a festive float decorated with hundreds of lanterns is dragged by young people towards Kashima shrine with Osuke bayashi (Japanese classical folk music accompaniment).

The scene is very spectacular and impressive.

Nukadadori bayashi festival is know for it's heroic and stirring drum music accompaniment. The precincts of the shrine is crowded with a lot of people from other districts as well as people of the city when it is held.

There is a dance of masked men called "Kadobe Hyottoko Odori" which is performed to the rhythm of unique Japanese drum beat. It is said that the beginning of this dance dates about 900 years ago when the people in the district danced for consolation of the warriors in the camp of Lord Yoshiie Minamoto. Today it is preserved by the hands of a people of a preservation group.
